Cape Town & Surrounds
All of the other areas shown in my portfolio are places that I encountered and experienced only as a photographer. The cape, particularly it’s coastline, is where I grew up and it’s the landscape that I have the strongest connection with. It is what stirs my best childhood memories and nostalgia of perfect days as a kid; seeing the turquoise waters of Kogelbay on perfect December days, flaming red sunsets over the winelands in April and snow-capped mountains on icy August mornings.
I am incredibly fortunate to have grown up in this magnificent and underappreciated corner of our planet at the southern tip of Africa. It has everything one could ask for – temperate weather, towering coastal mountains with perfect white beaches below, one of the world’s best wine regions, the most diverse floral area on the planet, incredible sea life and just the right amount of wind to to keep the air cystal clear and make one appreciate the windless days.
I hope that my photos of the cape can communicate the beauty of the place I call home.
